Of course it's not all about how many awards you can collect... however it must be very flattering to know that your fans, peers and the music industry acknowledge and appreciate your talent and creativity. Nelly burst onto the scene with her debut album 'Whoa! Nelly' in 2000, since then she has worked tirelessly to promote it, performing live on many TV shows and touring worldwide. She has shown what an outstanding artist she is and this has been recognised by, amongst others, U2 who asked her to open for them in the USA and UK, Elton John who invited her to perform at his post Oscar party and Missy Elliot who asked Nelly to feature on her remix of 'Get Ur Freak On' which appears on the Tomb Raider soundtrack.

These are some of the awards that Nelly has received for her debut work; on March 4th 2001 at the Juno awards in Hamilton, Nelly won four awards ...for best single (I'm like a Bird), best new solo artist, best songwriter and best producer (with Track and Field) ....On May 13th 2001 Nelly won four awards at the West Coast Music Awards in Vancouver....for best producer (with Track and Field), best female artist, best major label release (Whoa Nelly) and best pop dance release....On October 26th 2001 Nelly was presented with a Radio Music Award for the most requested song (Turn off the Light).....On November 6th 2001 Nelly received a Billboard Music Award for best pop new artist clip (I'm Like a Bird)
